*☆*☆* So Seasonal *☆*☆*

img_20161211_150800

A holly-jolly hello to you, my dearest reader! I do so hope you are feeling fabulously festive, for I am thoroughly immersing myself in all things Christmasie, as you can see from the pic above of my Victorian style seasonal stitching in satin stitch. My soul jingles just from gazing at it…

A bounty of beautiful bunnies dressed in berry shades have been completed and then whisked away ( along with another merry monkey) to become cuddlesome Christmas companions, for good boys and girls on Christmas morning…

img_20161128_172607

Hankering after huddlesome hugs myself, I have been hastily hooking away at my granny squares. As I am soooooooo impatient, I have already begun to stitch some squares together, just to get an inkling of what my wonderful winter warmer will look like…

img_20161211_150509

So super snuggly, I think you’ll agree? Now dearest reader, you know how I adore puzzling away at a puzzle? Well, my current puzzling project to ponder over is a fabuously festive, jolly jigsaw…

img_20161211_151051

…complete with a Christmas cuppa, obviously. Ooh, did I mention that as well as our usual ‘not-really-real’ Christmas tree, we also have a ‘really-real’ Christmas tree this year? He’s rooted in a rather festive red pot and although he’s only about three feet tall, he’s bursting with seasonal charm. Darling daughter has named him David for some unfathomable reason and he has become thoroughly spoilt and pampered. I remembered reading or hearing somewhere that a real tree should be left undecorated for a week once it was indoors, but we couldn’t resist placing one teeny-tiny decoration on a branch whilst he wasn’t looking, just to get him used to the idea…

img_20161211_151323

Thankfully, at the end of the week he hadn’t thrown the decoration off in disgust, so in order not to shock the little fellow, we crawled in ‘commando-style’ on our bellies with more decorations (under cover of darkness) as well as descending on a wire from above, ‘ninja-style,’ to drop on a set of festive fairy lights. So far, I don’t think he’s noticed …

Hopefully you too are feeling fabulously festive by now dear reader, so I will leave you with a heartfelt wish for a crafty-creative Christmas, full of marvellously merry makingness. Jingle on…

Creature Comforts…

img_20161126_222242

Yes indeed dear reader, once again it’s that time of year when you need to start crafting comfort of one sort or another and for me that means – a new blankie! As you can see in the pretty-pic above, my new blankie has begun, hoorah! It will be formed from many, many gorgeous granny squares, in delightfully autumnal shades of dark brown, mocha, khaki, copper and gold; my heart warms with a toasty glow, just by looking at those adorable little squares!

Of course I haven’t just been crocheting comfort for me, myself and I, dear reader, for I have also been beavering away at creating more of my crocheted creatures, which I hope will bring cuddlesome comfort to others out there in the big wide world – yes, that’s right dear reader you’ve guessed it, more bunnies…

img_20161126_222511

Beautiful bunch of bunnies aren’t they? It seems a shame to split them up as they seem to get along so well, but I’m sure they will be muchly loved by whoever decides to give them a new home, bless ’em. Ooh, musn’t forget monkey, for how could I anyhow, when he is causing much mishief and mayhem around here right now…

img_20161128_172344

Beware dear reader, don’t let his cheeky little smile fool you…

img_20161128_172607

…as he’s usually been up to something suspicious…

img_20161128_172830

Watch it monkey, I’m on to you…

img_20161128_173055

Ooh you cheeky chappie you, behave! Whoever adopts you is definately in for some jolly japes and gallons of gigglesome fun. It will certainly be quiet around here once he’s moved out, that’s for sure. Well, I need to return forthwith to my comfort-creations, so stay toasty dear reader and keep crafting…

September Stitchings

img_20160918_153355

As you can see dear reader, I have been hastily hooking away at my crochet in order to create some snuggly-cosy creations in preparation for the autumn chills looming on the horizon.I used a Nicki Trench pattern and adored crocheting the lovely lace at the fingertip edge, as well as the rather raunchy frills at the wrists; I shall most definately be adding more of those little beauties to future projects whenever possible! More mitts were to follow, this time in a super seed style stitch in caramel, with a contrasting scalloped trim of teal…

20160918_130655

For those little darlings, I followed a crochet pattern from Knit Now magazine by Kat Goldin. Continuing with the crocheted cosiness, I used a Nicki Trench pattern from ‘Cute & Easy Crochet’ to create a cuddly cushion in autumnal shades, using cotton yarn in cream, chestnut and chocolate brown…

img_20160918_151905

What’s that I hear you ask? Any news on the delightful daschund I was designing? Why yes indeed, she is now complete, so prepare to meet the rather marvellous Mabel…

img_20160918_151155

img_20160918_151419

Isn’t she adorable? I love her dearly, but I do wish she would stop hogging the blanket on the sofa…

Well that’s all my craftiness for this bloggings, my lovely reader. I shall leave you with some autumnal pics to peruse from my recent wandering walkings ( without Mabel, she refused to forsake her spot on the sofa. What a diva!) Take care and keep on crafting…

As autumn arrives…

IMG_20160822_160051

…it’s obviously time to crack out those autumnal shades of yummy yarn again, which I am happily crocheting into a cuddly cushion cover of the circular variety, as shown in the pic above. I must try to slow down a trifle though, as crocheting in speedy spirals can make me a little dizzy dear reader! Such fun! Still on the cosy cushion covers theme, I have also started to hook up a granny square style one in shades of graphite, silver and mustard, mmm…really liking that mustard colour right now, particularly with grey…

IMG_20160827_174519

Expect to see more mustard yarn around these parts in the future! Apart from creating some rather grown-up items for the home, a few fun fripperies have also been rolling off the parental production line to keep my darling daughters delighted, commencing with a trio of crochet cacti from a Simply Crochet magazine pattern (yes, you did hear that correctly: crocheted cacti!) …

IMG_20160818_162109

Practically perfect pricklies, are they not? My other rather jolly creation, which will definately bring a smile to your face dear reader, is Baby Groot, an adorable Marvel character from the film ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ (pattern from Twinkie Chan) …

IMG_20160814_164748

Such a cheerful chappy isn’t he? A little more cheerfulness will be filling the household soon once I have finished hooking up my latest crocheted creature – a delightful daschund!

IMG_20160822_160524

Of course she will have a super stripy section too as you can see. Ooh, talking of stripes, following a long-awaited rummage through my yarn stash mixed with a bit of sorting out, I managed to gather together a whole bounteous basketful of balls of yarn ends, simply crying out to be crocheted into a scrappy blankie, where each row is a different colour yarn…

IMG_20160818_163213

Super stripy and such fun to work on! It’s not the only blanket I have on the go at the moment though ( you know what I’m like) as I’ve been meaning to get going on another ripple blanket, this time in shades of kiwi and cream…

IMG_20160818_162655

Well, that’s a fair bit of creativeness for to peruse dear reader, I will bid you farewell and leave you with a few favourite pics from my wonderful week in Wales this summer…

Bouncing Bunnies Bonanza!

image

Well hello there dear reader! I hope you are ‘hopping’ with egg-citement now that Easter is fast approaching, for we are certainly full of the joys of spring here. As you can see, I have been busy crocheting a bunch of bunnies from a pattern in the latest issue of Mollie Makes magazine. The bunnies in the magazine were all worked in pastel shades of yarn and joined together to form bunting. I decided to use more natural colours for mine, such as grey, chocolate brown, camel, stone and mocha, as well as abandoning the constraints of bunting, by allowing my bunnies to become ‘free range’ through the addition of a piece of rustic twine, so that the bunnies can all hang on my twinkly-twigs as individuals. Before they received their rustic twine adornment however, they all had a little spring dance to ‘ring-a-ring-a-rabbit’…

image

Aah, bless the little darlings. Still on the bunny theme, I also crocheted one of my girly bunny toys for a colleague to give as a christening gift. It’s been ages since I crocheted one of my creature creations and it made me realise that I must get back to designing some more cute critters soon…

image

Keeping with the crochet theme, you remember that headboard cover made out of grey granny squares that I upcycled into a cushion cover? Well, the back part of the headboard cover was just a plain, silver grey block of treble crochet, which I didn’t want to go to waste, so I decided to add further blocks of different colours to form a blanket. Of course, this involoved a little preliminary playing around with my yarn pegs (ooh, loving my yarn pegs muchly) to achieve a pleasing combination of colours…

image

…those colours being: silver, camel, mocha, parchment and cream. I have to say dear reader, crocheting a blankie from purely treble stitch is extremely therapeutic, as well as being particularly warming on the knees as it grows…

image

Fear not dear reader, for darling daughter’s cream dream of a knitted blankie has not been abandoned, as many squares of many patterns are still being produced in all their glory…

image

I think I have nearly thirty squares now, so nearly halfway there! Well I’m off to crochet up a few more bouncing bunnies and with Easter fast approaching I had better ‘hop’ to it! Here’s wishing you an egg-static Easter dearest reader and keep on crafting…

Finding Feathers Fascinating…

IMG_20150419_180852

And a happy-hello to you dear reader! I hope my latest bloggings finds you in a sunny place, with a smile on your face. It certainly warms the soul to feel some sunshine on MY face, I have to confess dear reader! What arty-crafty doodahs have I been up to lately I hear you ask? Well, the feather-floating-above is rather a fat, fluffy clue as to my latest faddy fascination and hopefully there will be more to follow; possibly in watercolour paints, mmmm…

I also have a little pretty-playful-patterning to share with you;another one of my wandering walks with pretty pens…

IMG_20150414_082146

I might even let you have a teeny-tiny peeky-pook in my notebook next time, to peruse my jolly jottings, but only if you’re good…

On the crochet front, I have finally finished my first ever wearable crocheted garment! Woo-hoo!and ta-dah! and all that. I have to say I did have my doubts as to its wearability, or the possibility of it even resembling a recognisable piece of clothing, at certain points during its construction. I followed a pattern from Simply Crochet Magazine and it’s a cardi with three-quarter length sleeves in denim blue, 4 ply yarn…

IMG_20150414_082524

I have also been inundated with bunny orders lately – it must be Spring! My lounge has rather resembled a bunny autopsy area, what with all the bits of bunny-under-construction laying around! Here’s a pic of some beautiful bunny buddies who have already hopped off to new homes…

IMG_20150414_160951

My darling daughters have remarked that at least having bits of bunny all over the place all the time makes a change from bits of unicorn… Despite all the bunny making, I have found time to start knitting a lovely lacy scarf in gorgeous green yarn, made from recycled t-shirts; so that’s ‘green’ in colour and ‘green’ as in eco-friendly too, dear reader! Ho hum…

IMG_20150414_161351

Well I have a bunch of bunnies to make, so I had better hop to it (pardon the pun) and I’ll leave you with a couple of springtime shots from my garden, dearest reader chum. Keep on making…

Happy Hairy Happenings

IMG_20150308_120451

Hello there my fellow craft-loving chums! As promised in my previous bloggings I am sharing my latest ‘hairy’ artings with you, as you can see floating above and below…

IMG_20150309_082153

Wait, there’s more…

IMG_20150309_082418

and just one more, if you can bear it…

IMG_20150309_082613

That’s it, done now, but there WILL be more, as I just adore sketching hair! We all have our little quirks, dear reader…

Remember the coloured pencil/ink pen twiggy-flowery-leafy heart I was working on? Well, I added a blue-blue butterfly…

IMG_20150309_081919

What do you think, lovely reader? I still can’t decide whether I should add some wise words in the middle; a little heartfelt ditty? Do share if you are having any thoughts/suggestions, or any other suitably wordly-wise-wordings.

I had to magic up another two unicorn cutie-pies recently, for a friend-of-a-friend’s girly twins…

IMG_20150302_183505

Aren’t they adorable? The little darlings! I almost couldn’t let them go, but I stifled my sniffles and tears and bade them a fond farewell…

IMG_20150302_183840

Heart-rending, isn’t dear reader? That must be about twelve wee unicorns I’ve sent out into the world to spread their magic *☆*☆*☆* Bless them all (sigh…)

At least I have my bonny-bunny-boy who I crocheted up a couple of weeks ago. He’s not going anywhere, for he will live forever on my sofa, where he can burrow amongst my many cushions to his little heart’s content…

IMG_20150303_183658

Isn’t he a sweetie?

IMG_20150303_183901

Hmmm…obviously he has a bit of a cheeky side…

IMG_20150303_184021

Ooh, you bad bunny you! Stop your messing about and get back to the sofa this minute!

Still on the crochet theme, I’ve been working on a crocheted cardigan from a pattern in Simply Crochet magazine. It’s the first proper piece of clothing I’ve ever tried to crochet, so I was a bit apprehensive to start with, especially as it is way out of my ‘unicorn-and-other-crocheted-creatures’ comfort zone! The cardi is a seamless construction which you start from one shoulder and work outwards, adding bits on at various odd angles, until it is all crocheted together to form the top half and arm holes. I have to admit that at one stage I had a very strange crocheted shape before me, with odd triangular pieces going off in all directions. I did feel like I was on ‘The Krypton Factor’ or something, as I puzzled over how on earth was this oh-so-strange shape supposed to crochet together to make anything resembling a cardigan??? I diligently followed the pattern however and it was quite magical when my first armhole appeared, not to mention a relief! It does actually look like it might be a cardigan eventually now…

IMG_20150308_120752

Did you spot the armholes? So relieved there’s two of them…and on opposite sides of the cardi too, things are looking up! I’m now working on the ribbing along the bottom. I’ve knitted loads of cardigans with ribbing but I never knew you could crochet a ‘rib’ style stitch – I do now…

IMG_20150308_121056

Intriguing isn’t it? It looks just like knitted ribbing but it’s not, it’s magic*☆* Well that’s all my arty-crafty sharings for this bloggings dear reader, take care of your lovely self and keep on crafting…
