Crafting Colour…

img_20161016_144131

And a jolly-cheery hello to you, my dearest reader! Don’t you just adore this time of year? I love watching the trees erupt into a blaze of glorious jewel-like colours, along with foraging for acorns and chestnuts (sorry squirrels) and picking pumpkins in their glorious array of shapes and shades. As you can see in the photo above, I love to fill my home with a constantly growing collection of autumn’s bounty (once again, apologies squirrels) which tones in quite happily with my crochet cushion cover, in shades of silver, graphite and mustard. Granny squares are most definately my not-so-secret passion at the moment, for not only did I crochet a cosy cushion cover using the groovy granny square, I also made a beautiful baby blanket…

img_20161016_143720

…which I am calling my Peony Poppet Blanket, as it is in peony shades of pale peach, fondant, candyfloss and white. The granny squares didn’t stop there however dear reader, for I have finally finished the Blossom Baby Blanket I started back in the spring, which is composed of pretty little candy-coloured squares of sherbet, white, candyfloss and fondant…

img_20161016_143201

Cute colours aren’t they? Colourful colouring has also been occurring in my Mollie Makes colouring book, with a bit of botanical beauty…

img_20160921_201720

Of course, it will probably soon be that time of year to crack out my wonderful winter wonderland colouring book, so I can cosy up in front of the fire for a spot of festive fun with my colouring pencils (rock and roll!) I’ve already been busy puzzling, another perfect pastime as the evenings begin to darken earlier…

img_20160921_201319

Well that’s all for now, dearest reader. Here’s wishing you a happy Halloween – stay spooky but keep crafting…

September Stitchings

img_20160918_153355

As you can see dear reader, I have been hastily hooking away at my crochet in order to create some snuggly-cosy creations in preparation for the autumn chills looming on the horizon.I used a Nicki Trench pattern and adored crocheting the lovely lace at the fingertip edge, as well as the rather raunchy frills at the wrists; I shall most definately be adding more of those little beauties to future projects whenever possible! More mitts were to follow, this time in a super seed style stitch in caramel, with a contrasting scalloped trim of teal…

20160918_130655

For those little darlings, I followed a crochet pattern from Knit Now magazine by Kat Goldin. Continuing with the crocheted cosiness, I used a Nicki Trench pattern from ‘Cute & Easy Crochet’ to create a cuddly cushion in autumnal shades, using cotton yarn in cream, chestnut and chocolate brown…

img_20160918_151905

What’s that I hear you ask? Any news on the delightful daschund I was designing? Why yes indeed, she is now complete, so prepare to meet the rather marvellous Mabel…

img_20160918_150924

img_20160918_151155

img_20160918_151419

Isn’t she adorable? I love her dearly, but I do wish she would stop hogging the blanket on the sofa…

Well that’s all my craftiness for this bloggings, my lovely reader. I shall leave you with some autumnal pics to peruse from my recent wandering walkings ( without Mabel, she refused to forsake her spot on the sofa. What a diva!) Take care and keep on crafting…

img_20160918_154319

As autumn arrives…

IMG_20160822_160051

…it’s obviously time to crack out those autumnal shades of yummy yarn again, which I am happily crocheting into a cuddly cushion cover of the circular variety, as shown in the pic above. I must try to slow down a trifle though, as crocheting in speedy spirals can make me a little dizzy dear reader! Such fun! Still on the cosy cushion covers theme, I have also started to hook up a granny square style one in shades of graphite, silver and mustard, mmm…really liking that mustard colour right now, particularly with grey…

IMG_20160827_174519

Expect to see more mustard yarn around these parts in the future! Apart from creating some rather grown-up items for the home, a few fun fripperies have also been rolling off the parental production line to keep my darling daughters delighted, commencing with a trio of crochet cacti from a Simply Crochet magazine pattern (yes, you did hear that correctly: crocheted cacti!) …

IMG_20160818_162109

Practically perfect pricklies, are they not? My other rather jolly creation, which will definately bring a smile to your face dear reader, is Baby Groot, an adorable Marvel character from the film ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ (pattern from Twinkie Chan) …

IMG_20160814_164748

Such a cheerful chappy isn’t he? A little more cheerfulness will be filling the household soon once I have finished hooking up my latest crocheted creature – a delightful daschund!

IMG_20160822_160524

Of course she will have a super stripy section too as you can see. Ooh, talking of stripes, following a long-awaited rummage through my yarn stash mixed with a bit of sorting out, I managed to gather together a whole bounteous basketful of balls of yarn ends, simply crying out to be crocheted into a scrappy blankie, where each row is a different colour yarn…

IMG_20160818_163213

Super stripy and such fun to work on! It’s not the only blanket I have on the go at the moment though ( you know what I’m like) as I’ve been meaning to get going on another ripple blanket, this time in shades of kiwi and cream…

IMG_20160818_162655

Well, that’s a fair bit of creativeness for to peruse dear reader, I will bid you farewell and leave you with a few favourite pics from my wonderful week in Wales this summer…

Beautiful Blanket Beginnings

IMG_20160219_140646

Yes dear reader, my cream quilt quest has begun, as requested by my darling daughter. Many, many squares have already been knitted in a buttery-soft, cream yarn, as I feverishly satisfy my addiction to trying out different stitch patterns. Who knows what new stitch pattern I might stumble upon? Let the adventure begin…

Still on the knitting theme, my latest scarf in autumnal shades has been completed and suitably renamed as my ‘Wodland Walk Wrap.’ Take a peek…

IMG_20160219_140003

Another cosy-cowl was also completed, this one simply knitted entirely in moss stitch…

IMG_20160219_135137

It was a partially finished project found lurking at the bottom of a bag of yarn I was sorting; I had been wondering where it had disappeared to! I also did a bit of nifty upcycling when I turned an old headboard cover I had crocheted some time ago from groovy granny squares into a cuddly cushion cover, with the addition of a few vintage buttons…

IMG_20160219_135605

One wet, windy, wild day was spent doodling wise words in ink, with a whispering of a floral flourish…

IMG_20160219_141255

Along with a heavenly houseplant hash…

IMG_20160219_140911

Well, spring has oh-so-nearly sprung dear reader, so I hope all your bulbs bloom brightly and I had better get back on with that blanket…

Crafting Cuddly Cosy

IMG_20150920_153610

A happy-hello to you my dear reader chum!I hope you have managed to keep toasty-warm during the rather chilly autumn mornings, although I must confess the daytimes have been pleasantly warm, dry and sunny – better than the dismal summer we had in fact! I’m still busy making a selection of squares of many stitch patterns with my trusty knitting needles (as you can see above) in the hope that I can create a cosy throw. I just love trying out different stitch patterns, as I’m thrilled when I first glimpse the exciting new pattern emerging; it’s like doodling with needles and yarn, sheer bliss…

IMG_20150920_153336

My throw-to-be is destined for my newly chalk-painted bed, which has already been the lucky recipient of my latest attempt at crafting up a bit of cuddly-cosy: a knitted cushion cover of stripes of various stitch patterns that took my fancy, in silver and charcoal greys.

IMG_20150920_152924

Believe me dear reader, it’s cuddlesome-cosy. I’ve also been-a-doodling again, this time with the added joy of watercolour paints. My first piece for your perusal is entitled ‘Blobs in Blue’ with said blobs composed of watercolour daubings and ink patterny doodlings layered over the top…

IMG_20150920_154209

My second doodly-delight has a watercolour wash of many stripy shades of blue overlaid with a smattering of patterning in indigo ink…

IMG_20150924_164635

Well I must crack on with those knitted squares dear reader; the nights are becoming chillier and I’m going to be needing that cosy throw pretty soon! Remember: keep crafting, keep creating, keep cosy…

So, a Sunless Summer Spent…Saving the Universe!

IMG_20150903_123553

Well hello my lovely blog-reading friends! I hope you managed to have some fun this summer, despite all the gloomy damp weather. It was all a bit disappointing wasn’t it? As the sun failed to make many appearances in the sky for us, I have added a sunny yellow glow to my bloggings for you, by way of the delightful dahlia pic above. I just adore dahlias: so vervaciously vibrant they can’t fail to cheer you up.

If you managed to escape to anywhere exciting for the summer dear reader, I hope you managed to find some sunshine, for we certainly did when we visited wonderful Wales for our hols. During our time there we enjoyed the many delights of Cardiff such as the castle..

IMG_20150810_182957

IMG_20150810_182743

…all very impressive with rather a lot of steep steps that were fine to climb up but somewhat scarier to descend (eek!) We also loved ambling around the many Edwardian and Victorian shopping arcades…

IMG_20150811_203029

IMG_20150811_203332

…enjoyed a brew and Barabrith in the many cosy coffee bars…

IMG_20150811_201915

IMG_20150811_200917

IMG_20150811_200250

…we wondered at the many delights of Cardiff Bay, or Tiger Bay as the locals call it…

IMG_20150812_120951

…such as The Roald Dahl Plas…

IMG_20150812_120502

IMG_20150812_190400

…the mighty Millenium Centre…

IMG_20150812_185723

Oh, and did I mention that we saved the universe there too? Yes indeed, we visited The Doctor Who Experience and had an epic-awesome adventure working with the current Doctor Who to save the planet from various aliens…

IMG_20150812_114322

IMG_20150812_120126

IMG_20150812_114215

…and generally had a fab out-of-this-world experience…

IMG_20150812_115819

IMG_20150812_115929

We also visited the beautiful Barry and Barry Island, where we walked in the footsteps of TV’s Gavin and Stacey and I’m not gonna lie to you, it was crackin’!

IMG_20150812_184026

We were made up to visit Trinity Street where Stacey, Gwen (not Gwen from Budgeons), Bryn (don’t mention the fishing trip) and Doris lived, Marco’s where Stacey worked, the arcade where Nessa (sort of ) worked…

IMG_20150812_183902

…Boofy’s their chip shop of choice…

IMG_20150812_183332

…and sat on the same wall that Gavin, Stacey, Smithy and Nessa all perched on for that final episode and looked out to sea…

IMG_20150812_184656

…genuine!

Back in England, we had a delightful day out in Teignmouth: still as serene as ever…

IMG_20150903_123751

…a trip to Totness and Dartington…

IMG_20150820_121305

IMG_20150820_121500

…and gazed in awe at the beautiful, big, big skies of Budleigh…

IMG_20150903_123939

What have I been crafting up this summer? Well for starters I’ve only been at the chalk paint and had a go at a bit of upcycling! Yes I ‘updated’ my ‘dated’ solid pine bed with a lick of pebble grey chalk paint and I have to confess, I am rather chuffed with it…

IMG_20150826_122135

I must warn you though dear reader, painting furniture is seriously addictive, as I have been eyeing up other suitable candidates around my abode that look ripe for a quick makeover! My new watercolour paints had a quick testing too…

IMG_20150827_130926

…and my ink pen enjoyed a little ‘mindfulness zentangling’ or doodling as we know it…

IMG_20150827_131245

My crochet hook worked up a sweat on a chic chevron cushion I designed with a buttoned closure on the reverse…

IMG_20150826_122543

…along with a whimsical wall hanging for darling daughter, complete with tickly tassels and dreamy driftwood…

IMG_20150826_124907

A trio of charm bracelets were crocheted from a Mollie Makes’ kit and as there were three I let my two darling daughters squabble out the distribution between themselves; far too dangerous an area for me to venture into…

IMG_20150827_130537

My knitting needles have been happily stitching up some cosy treats for autumn, such as a textured caress of a cover for my notebook…

IMG_20150826_122837

…several squares in many, many patterns, in glorious greys for what will one day become a warming throw…

IMG_20150826_123750

…and a cosy cushion cover in gorgeous grey stripes of a selection of stitch patterns…

IMG_20150826_123323

I had a little go at crafting with leatherette via another Mollie Makes kit, this time a tropical cocktail of a couple of brooches…

IMG_20150830_145927

Thankfully there were two of them, so I was spared any teenage traumas when it came to sharing them out – phew! A bit of baking was also enjoyed which produced a lush lemon loaf…

IMG_20150826_121800

…it didn’t last long mind you! Bit like our summer… Well I will leave you now dear reader and as I began my bloggings with a dahlia, so I shall end with a dahlia, well, a jug full of the dashing darlings actually! Keep on crafting…

Huggable House♡

IMG_20141221_124156

And a jolly-jingly-jangly hello to you my fellow crafting chums! I hope I find you suitably nestled in front of your twinkly tree, feasting on festive food and full of Christmas cheer! As you can see, I have completed my latest knitted pillow design: a hug-worthy, housey-housey cushion. I’m so pleased with how the triangular intarsia roof turned out and shall use this pattern more in future….

I also had to forage around in my felt this week, as a friend wanted me to make a foody felt brooch as a present for a relative. Well, here’s the tiny-tasty-treat I created: a magical-mini-morsel of a fat-free-forkful!

IMG_20141221_123756

Talking of food, but this time the really-real variety, I’ve been baking up some tasty treats in my kitchen today: gingerbread snowflake cookies!

IMG_20141221_161450

…and before you ask dear reader, yes they are truly scrumptious and no, I can’t possibly share them… I can however share the first pic of my chocolate Santa collection with you. I make a new collection of the jolly festive chaps every Christmas and so far this year I have a grand total of 8! So excited dear reader! I just love chocolate Santas…

IMG_20141221_142321

Aren’t they adorable? They just make me smile when I look at them and fill me with a festive glow☆ I’ll  leave you now my dear reader friend, with a seasonal health and safety warning from my knitted mate Rodney Reindeer…

Having a Whale of a Time!

IMG_20141112_162119

Whale hello there dear reader! How are things with you, my craft-loving chum? As you can see I have a new creature creation: a fabric whale sewn from my own pattern. Alas I no longer have the gorgeous grey whale pictured in all his glory floating above, for he was sold at my last craft sale (farewell my fishy friend) but I am sure he has gone to a cuddlesome-cosy and hugful home♡ Yes I had a fab time at my craft sale dear reader, thank you for asking, as I sold oodles of my makeriness to lots of lovely, craft-loving customers (bless them all). Want to see some pics of my crafty offerings on show? Thought so…

IMG_20141109_120627

IMG_20141109_120830

Aren’t they simply adorable? I have also hooked up some pretty-in-pink and blue-for-a-boy baby shoes, in 100% cotton yarn for dainty feet…

IMG_20141109_124027

IMG_20141109_120401

Do you remember the trio of unicorns I was crocheting for my friend’s triplet girlies? Well I managed to finish them in time for Santa to nestle into a spare spot on his sleigh, all ready for the big day, and here they are…

IMG_20141109_122405

IMG_20141109_122135

Mummy-of-triplet-girlies was very pleased with them as was Santa, as he could do with a bit of unicorn magic to help his sleigh fly that little bit faster you know *☆*☆*☆*

Talking of flying sleighs, I’ve been pattern designing again, this time a little Rudolph Christmas tree decoration, complete with jingly-jangly bell dear reader, such fun!

IMG_20141109_122555

And then my pattern designing turned to felt; first for a trio of foxy-fab felt brooches, complete with girly blushes…

IMG_20141109_121941

…of which I will definately be keeping one for me-myself-and-I! The same goes for the crazy camper van felt key charms I designed, but which colour should I choose? Decisions, decisions dear reader…

IMG_20141109_121425

IMG_20141109_121133

IMG_20141109_121707

Just love camper vans♡ I used to own a blue VW camper which had a rather jolly red and white striped push-up roof…aaah, sweet memories… And still on the retro theme, I completed my cloud cushion sewn from vintage fabric, with hand-embroidered ‘Daydream Believer’ wording and detailing, as well as felt and crocheted flowers with beads and buttons…

IMG_20141109_122824

Phew! Now that’s a whole load of makeriness indeed, dear reader. Am I resting my head on my hippy-chick cloud cushion I hear you ask? No, definately not reader chum, for darling daughter is in need of a cosy-cuddly-cowl so my needles are hastily click-clacking away with some rather lovely powder blue chunky yarn. I will leave you with a work-in-progress pic, complete with a little festive snow globe to get you into the seasonal spirit *☆*☆*☆*keep crafting…

Meet Monica Monkey!

IMG_20140929_191438

Isn’t she simply adorable dear reader? I bet you didn’t realise just how cute a monkey in a dress could be. Of course Monica is extremely aware of how cute she is and just loves having her photo taken…

IMG_20140929_191140

So is often to be found hanging around in front of a camera…

IMG_20140929_190916

…ready for a chic shot; she’s such a cheeky little diva! She’s my latest crocheted creature creation and I’ve already made a start on designing a doggie version. Doggie won’t be wearing a dress however, for I am going to create a ‘boyish’ ensemble for him, such fun!

As you know dear reader chum, I completed my ‘shape’ weaving last time and you’ll be pleased to know that I have now found a place for it in my humble abode…

IMG_20140921_185956

Looks lovely nestled amongst my twinkly-twiggy lights does it not? I am also rather chuffed with how another monochrome creation of mine is coming along – the house pillow I might have waffled on about in a previous bloggings. Well, exciting news dear reader, for I have managed to incorporate a new ‘triangulationy’ pattern into my knitting for the roof section…

IMG_20140929_190413

Looks lush doesn’t it? So pleased with my triangliness and still keeping with the triangly theme, here’s a trianglings doodlings…

IMG_20140929_185858

I can’t decide whether to add colour or not, what do you reckon dear reader? Still sort of with the triangle thing, here’s a progress pic of the lacy diamond pattern knitting on my latest neck cosie, in a lovely beachy-seasidey kind of coloured yarn…

IMG_20140929_190152

Really liking those colours together. If you fancy having a read of some other knitting blogs, I can recommend a couple of my faves:

Floating Happy as a Cloud…

IMG_20140915_192207

Yes I’m in a ‘happy-floaty-dreamy-cloud’ kind of a mood at the moment dear reader, for I have finished many-many WIP’s, including a couple of squishy cloud pillows. The first completed cloud can be seen in the pretty pic floating above here; it’s a hanging version with hand-embroidered wording and shiny beads on sparkling silver thread. A little bit of hanging heaven☆ My other completed cloud pillow is of the rather larger variety, more of your normal cushion size, with hand-embroidered wording once again. When I started to work on it I wasn’t sure what other decorative bits-and-bobs I was going to adorn it with, but as I was stitching away a daisy popped into my head (as it does from time to time) and indeed a crocheted daisy fitted the whole ensemble perfectly – I hope you agree…

IMG_20140907_121606

I just love daisies, such a happy flower don’t you think? Keeping to the pillow theme, have a ganders at my latest cushion design – an embroidered star☆ which once again has hand-embroidered wording…

IMG_20140917_175215

…and is made from fabric with teeny-tiny stars on it. Ooh, and modeled by one of my darling daughters: my little star, holding a star☆ and ‘sew’ on to more sewing (pardon the pun) for I have finally sewn up my two doggie plushies: a sweet sausage doggie…

IMG_20140907_122636

…a darling Dascshund indeed, who was often to be found in my garden, dashing around after daisies…

IMG_20140907_203141

…while Scottie Doggie plushie was totally captivated by butterflies, bless him…

IMG_20140907_121927

Pleased as punch with my plushies dear reader, so expect to see more soon in other fabrics. Now for something completely different (but still crafty, fear not) a little bit of weaving! Yes I finally managed to weave a triangle into my woven wall-hanging and added some totally terrific tassels along the edge, then mounted it on to a darling piece of driftwood I discovered on one of my beachcombing forages. Want to see it?

IMG_20140915_191822

My little bit of monochrome magic, which looks marvelous on my lounge wall. So pleased with the triangle, so shall attempt another weaving with more triangles, now I’ve got the hang of it. If you fancy having a go yourself dear reader, ‘A Beautiful Mess’ blog has some great weaving-related ideas, so head on over to http://www.abeautifulmess.com and search for ‘weaving.’

Now for knitting. You know I was getting well into lacey knitting last time? Well, I searched through my stash of magazine cut-outs with different lace stitch patterns and came across a diamond lace pattern I was rather drawn to, so I decided to use the lovely linen and cotton mix yarn I had in my stash to knit up another lacey neck cosie, in a delightful denim blue shade…

IMG_20140915_192721

Lush colour and fab pattern♡ Of course as well as my continuing obsession with lacey knitting, my obsession with crocheting pebble cosies continues too…

IMG_20140907_121215

Simply adorable aren’t they? And now that the autumn mornings are becoming a little on the chilly side, perfect for the poor pebbles. Well I think I have rambled on rather enough for now dear reader, so I shall leave you with a pic of some of my comfort baking to off-set the end-of-summer blues: yummy-scrummy chocie muffins♡ Keep crafting…

IMG_20140907_134820
