Just a Jumble of Jottings…

IMG_20150522_090647

…and a jolly hello to you dearest reader! I hope you have managed to gallop about in the snippets of sunshine we have been endowed with of late, as we say a fond farewell to the fading blooms of blossom and other such springlike flowery fripperies, for summer is nearly upon us – yippee! As I have been busy ‘bunnying’ of late (yes I am still crocheting yet more of those cute little critters) I thought I would let you have a wee peeky-pook within the inner sanctum of my journaly-jotterings notebookness. Above you will have spied the first pageries dear reader and here is another for your perusal…

I love to collect postcards, stickers, labels and such, adorned with inspiring words of wisdom or just pretty images and then pop them within the pages of my notebook. If I happen upon some choice words whilst reading a book or magazine, I will jot them down as I fancy…

IMG_20150522_091018

…sometimes a mere few, with a dashing of doodles and occasionally more, depending on my mood…

IMG_20150522_091252

Sometimes I will choose ink…

IMG_20150522_091442

…and sometimes I will choose pencil…

…finding flowers fascinating…

IMG_20150522_092715

…words I discover on my reading journey, may create a pathway to pattern…

IMG_20150522_092910

…and some days I just pattern…

There you are dear reader, a few random bits and bobs from within my jumbly-journaly thingy. Enjoy the last few merry days of May my friend and prepare yourself for the jolly joys of June, as we saunter into summer! Craft on…

Happy Hairy Happenings

IMG_20150308_120451

Hello there my fellow craft-loving chums! As promised in my previous bloggings I am sharing my latest ‘hairy’ artings with you, as you can see floating above and below…

IMG_20150309_082153

Wait, there’s more…

IMG_20150309_082418

and just one more, if you can bear it…

IMG_20150309_082613

That’s it, done now, but there WILL be more, as I just adore sketching hair! We all have our little quirks, dear reader…

Remember the coloured pencil/ink pen twiggy-flowery-leafy heart I was working on? Well, I added a blue-blue butterfly…

IMG_20150309_081919

What do you think, lovely reader? I still can’t decide whether I should add some wise words in the middle; a little heartfelt ditty? Do share if you are having any thoughts/suggestions, or any other suitably wordly-wise-wordings.

I had to magic up another two unicorn cutie-pies recently, for a friend-of-a-friend’s girly twins…

IMG_20150302_183505

Aren’t they adorable? The little darlings! I almost couldn’t let them go, but I stifled my sniffles and tears and bade them a fond farewell…

IMG_20150302_183840

Heart-rending, isn’t dear reader? That must be about twelve wee unicorns I’ve sent out into the world to spread their magic *☆*☆*☆* Bless them all (sigh…)

At least I have my bonny-bunny-boy who I crocheted up a couple of weeks ago. He’s not going anywhere, for he will live forever on my sofa, where he can burrow amongst my many cushions to his little heart’s content…

IMG_20150303_183658

Isn’t he a sweetie?

IMG_20150303_183901

Hmmm…obviously he has a bit of a cheeky side…

IMG_20150303_184021

Ooh, you bad bunny you! Stop your messing about and get back to the sofa this minute!

Still on the crochet theme, I’ve been working on a crocheted cardigan from a pattern in Simply Crochet magazine. It’s the first proper piece of clothing I’ve ever tried to crochet, so I was a bit apprehensive to start with, especially as it is way out of my ‘unicorn-and-other-crocheted-creatures’ comfort zone! The cardi is a seamless construction which you start from one shoulder and work outwards, adding bits on at various odd angles, until it is all crocheted together to form the top half and arm holes. I have to admit that at one stage I had a very strange crocheted shape before me, with odd triangular pieces going off in all directions. I did feel like I was on ‘The Krypton Factor’ or something, as I puzzled over how on earth was this oh-so-strange shape supposed to crochet together to make anything resembling a cardigan??? I diligently followed the pattern however and it was quite magical when my first armhole appeared, not to mention a relief! It does actually look like it might be a cardigan eventually now…

IMG_20150308_120752

Did you spot the armholes? So relieved there’s two of them…and on opposite sides of the cardi too, things are looking up! I’m now working on the ribbing along the bottom. I’ve knitted loads of cardigans with ribbing but I never knew you could crochet a ‘rib’ style stitch – I do now…

IMG_20150308_121056

Intriguing isn’t it? It looks just like knitted ribbing but it’s not, it’s magic*☆* Well that’s all my arty-crafty sharings for this bloggings dear reader, take care of your lovely self and keep on crafting…

Fun-ish Fair Isle

Hello again dear lovely reader! Back again for more news of my crafty adventures I see. Well, I bring tidings of great crochet joy, for I have indeed completed my Valentine hearts bunting, so here it is: ta dah!

image

Turned out quite lush, did it not? It measures over three metres in length and shall be strung across my lounge, bringing a warm, toasty, loved-up glow to the room. Yes, feel the love people!
What’s that I hear dear reader? Are you wondering what’s on my hook/needles now that my little heart-felt project has been completed? Well wonder no longer, for I am currently knitting a fab Fair Isle pair of fingerless gloves in grey, black and cream. Ooh, I do love a bit of Fair Isle, mainly because it’s a pattern and you know I have a thing for patterns don’t you! Here’s a little mid-glove pic, just to give you a ‘taste’ for them…

image

Unfortunately, as Fair Isle patterns need oodles of concentration and I knit whilst watching the telly, I can’t always work on said gloves when there’s a programme/film involving a lot of ‘visual’ plot references (subtitled programmes/films are a knitting/crochet dilemma/ nightmare for me). Therefore, I have another, easier project on the go too, this being a snood ( don’t you just love saying that word?) for my daughter. It’s knitted in American moss stitch over an even number of stitches and has a four row pattern:
Row1: knit 1, purl 1, knit 1, purl 1, to end of row.
Row 2: as row 1.
Row 3: as row 1.
Row 4: purl 1, knit 1, purl 1, knit 1, to end of row.

Don’t you just love learning a new stitch? Plus it’s from another country too, so it’s a bit like having a little cultural adventure! (No, you’re right, I don’t get out much.) So here’s a little pre-snood shot of my latest work-in-progress, or should I say snood-in-process?

image

Oooh, I forgot to mention that the snood (still love saying that word) yarn has little metallic threads of gold in it! I just love watching it sparkle under the lights in the evening; sparkly things always make me smile!
I also bought the latest issue of Simply Crochet magazine at the weekend and can’t wait to start on the fab flamingo! My hook is poised for flouncy flamingo frippery!

image

Plus the free gift with this issue was a HUGE button which made me feel a bit like one of the Borrowers. Now, what crafty loveliness can I rustle up that I could adorn with  a HUGE button…
